Proposals to create a national health care plan such as “Medicare for All” rely heavily on reducing the prices that insurers pay care. These changes affect physicians’ short-run incentives provision and may also change providers’ invest in capacity, thereby influencing availability of long term. We provide evidence these responses using major Medicare payment combined with survey data time use. find physicians increase their spent capacity building when remuneration increases, they are subsequently more willing accept new patients—especially those who be residual claimants marginal capacity. forces imply supply curves likely differ from long-run curves. Policymakers need account how would influence investments determine system
